Beep Baseball World Series is coming to Beaumont!
Something about baseball is so quintessentially summer, and we’re excited to announce that a fun new game is coming to Beaumont – The National Beep Baseball World Series!
What is Beep Baseball?
The National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA) is an organization for athletes who are blind or visually impaired. The game uses a ball that beeps and bases that buzz to help guide and direct players. The NBBA, formed in 1976, organizes local, state, and regional tournaments, and each August, sponsors a World Series. Former NBBA World Series locations include Houston, Cleveland, Ohio, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and even Taiwan.
This year, the 2022 NBBA World Series will be held
right here in Beaumont, Texas!
Beginning July 24, over 20 teams from the United States, Canada, and the Dominican Republic will convene at the Cris Quinn Soccer Complex (9400 Dishman Road, Beaumont, Tx 77713) to compete! Over 400 players, their families, and spectators from around the world will be flocking to our area, ready to experience our wonderfully unique culture, history, food – and not to mention, meet some of the best people on the face of the planet. So let’s give them a big Southeast Texas welcome!
“The National Beep Baseball Association and its affiliate teams are thrilled to bring our sport and its world-class blind athletes to Beaumont,” said NBBA President, Blake Boudreaux, a native Texas who claims close ties to the Golden Triangle. “With a storied history of Beep Baseball throughout the state of Texas, we feel the 2022 NBBA World Series will be truly memorable and leave a lasting impression in the hearts and minds of everyone who can take part in this historic event.”
Not only is this exciting and inclusive sport going to be amazing to watch, they need YOUR help!
Volunteers Needed!
In order to make the event a success, the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau is asking for hundreds of volunteers from the community! These fun opportunities include responsibilities like welcoming players, umping, running doggie daycare for the seeing eye dogs, and more! Although there are opportunities to serve and volunteer during the entire World Series from July 24-July 31, help is especially needed on Friday, July 29. If you have a few free hours that day or week, and you’re looking to get you and/or your family, group, business, or association involved, you can browse the full schedule of volunteer opportunities and sign-up here.
