To mothers everywhere who are loving, caring for, talking with, equipping, educating, disciplining, enjoying, feeding, cleaning after, driving around, and raising their people. May you be filled with gratitude on this day regardless of your circumstances.

Motherhood is a full season. Whether you are a mother to one or mother to twelve, you understand the “full hands, full heart” mantra of this stage of life. 

There is always something to do and always things that won’t get done. 

There’s learning and understanding and getting a grip just for everything to change again. 

There’s joy and delight and sometimes sadness and heartache. 

It’s too loud or too quiet. 

There’s trust and fear. 

Excitement and anxiety. 

There’s fatigue and restlessness. 

There’s overstimulation and loneliness. 

When you are a mom, your hands are full.

While motherhood is full of so much, these little intimate moments are the ones that shape our relationships. These are the moments that we get to connect and we get to invest. These are the moments that we work for and we get to be present for. And they’re the ones that we want to remember most.

Maybe you feel like you are failing. Not enough time. Not enough patience. Not enough fun. Not enough. But, you are mom and there’s no one else who can do what you do. No one can connect and invest the way that you can.

Today is your day to celebrate your role as a mother. Maybe you get the rest that you need. Maybe you get a gift that you want. Maybe you get the quality time that you enjoy. But, maybe you don’t. Maybe today looks like every other day. Maybe that’s ok.

Your schedule is full, your hands are full, and your mind is full, but it is all worth it for those little opportunities in the mundane moments to love on, connect with, and invest in your babies.

Reflect on the beautiful gifts that you get to call your children, today. Not all moments are Instagram-worthy or Pinterest-perfect. Some of them are so much more than that. The ones without pictures or videos or an audience. 

Remember those quiet moments of motherhood that only you and your children were present for. The laughter, snuggle, comfort, or conversation. Replay those moments and be filled with gratitude. What a privilege to be a mother.
