One of our favorite family Christmas traditions is making hot cocoa, loading up the almost-sleepy kids in their PJs into the car, and driving around looking at all the local magnificent holiday light displays around Southeast Texas. Homeowners seem to get more creative every year, and watching the wonder and excitement on the kids faces really does a lot for my own sense of Christmas spirit and magic.
A few years ago, I started creating Christmas Lights Scavenger Hunts to help keep the kids engaged, awake, and to fend off boredom as we drove from neighborhood to neighborhood or encountered a street lacking in festive spirit. It’s become one of my boys favorite things to look forward to at Christmas! It’s so small and simple, but they look forward to those drives every year, sipping their hot chocolate with the Christmas music blasting through the car speakers as they watch each yard and house for the next find on their list. So this year, I decided to share it with all of you!
Save this graphic to your phone, or print it out, and have fun! You can drive around aimlessly, like we do, or bring it to one of the parades, tree lights, or other events on the Southeast Texas Holiday Fun Round-Up ! Pro tip: it’s perfect for a visit to Magic of Lights at Ford Park!
