Listen, when I find out about good things, I get excited to share them with you. And this month, I am OVER THE MOON excited to tell you about some GREAT opportunities to have FUN and get FIT for FREE with your amazing 409 Family!

I thought you would be!
First, you can join the SETX Line Steppers for FREE Line Dance Lessons. What started out as a conversation on the dance floor has blossomed into a movement! Organizer and instructor Yolanda Avery shared that she was asked if she would teach a line dance class at the Dorie Miller Post 87 (American Legion Hall). She agreed and decided to bring her instructor friends Deborah and Liz. Together with Cheryl, the sponsor and originator of the idea, they are making history as nearly 100 members of the 409 area gather to dance, laugh and even sweat a lil bit.
I have had the pleasure of attending twice and I can’t wait to return and burn some more calories. I even saw Danielle, one of the amazing 409 Family Admins, gliding across the dance floor. And one week they took this experience public in GRAND fashion as the SETX Line Steppers took over the middle of Parkdale Mall!
Classes are every two weeks on Wednesday from 6-7PM at the American Legion Hall (3430 W. Cardinal Drive in Beaumont). Stay connected by following Yolanda Nan Johnson Avery on Facebook.
The next experience that you should join me for is ZUMBAAAAAA! Long time instructor, Stacie Fontenot, has returned to the stage in brightly colored attire to lead us as we shimmy and shake our way to a healthier place. And shout out to Pastor Rachel Medlin and the Northpoint Community Church (420 N Major Dr) for allowing the use of their facility for these classes. I was in the building for the first class on March 20 and the room was PACKED!
Every Monday and Thursday night @ 5:30 PM, you can join with your 409 Family for a high-energy hour of cardio through Latin-inspired dance. Believe me, Friends, you will be burning calories without even noticing! And if you are a little self-conscious about shaking your groove thang, the lights are off. So feel free to SHAKE IT LIKE A SALT SHAKER over some french fries that just came out of the hot grease!!! I know I will!!!! OKURRRR!?!

These are just 2 of the many offerings in the area to move, release stress and make new friends! Hopefully I can get out and join other events and report back on the experience.
So…no excuses, Friends! Both of these classes are open to EVERYONE and they are FREE (donations are welcomed but not required)!
Regardless of your ability to dance or knowledge of the dances, YOU WILL HAVE FUN! They take time to teach the moves and if you struggle a bit, like I did, everyone is happy to help you out! And if nothing else, JUST KEEP MOVING AND GROOVING! It’s a no judgment zone!
Bottom line…you can have FUN and get FIT for FREE right here in the 409!
