Living in Southeast Texas, we get to be immersed in the natural beauty of the lush greens, gentle blues, and vibrant colors of the native flora and fauna. As of late, artists, both local and nationwide, have been growing the palette of beauty and inspiration in Southeast Texas through street art and wall murals! Beyond the stunning and intriguing wildlife, we gain a look at legacies built here, iconic scenes and architecture, life spoken through inspirational quotes, diversity of culture and interests in our little melting pot …the perspectives are countless and mesmerizing!

Thanks to the ever-growing art scene of SETX, 409 Family was inspired to create this engaging FREE gift as a way to not only connect locals and visitors with the evolving beauty of our area, but to draw our attention and focus to the incredible work and efforts of each and every one of these talented, hardworking artists! May we all better appreciate the gift of being able to inspire others through the vulnerability of sharing our talents.

With all of this in mind, let’s see the community out there exploring the murals of your city and surrounding area! The 409 encompasses many cities and communities, so we give you…scavenger hunt lists by location: 

Beaumont mural sections consist of Downtown, Calder, and Greater Beaumont. Thanks to the now annual Beaumont Mural Festival that began in 2022, Beaumont has no shortage of stunning street art and murals. The 2023 Mural Festival will be held on March 2nd-5th. It’s an event you will not want to miss!
Mid County consists of murals that can be found in both Nederland and Port Arthur.
Port Neches is pretty self-explanatory. We bet you locals can guess the centralized avenue the majority of these murals can be found too!
Orange County murals will be within Vidor and Orange.
Hardin County mural finds are centralized to Lumberton and Silsbee. Be aware that one is an indoor mural.

Obviously, not every single mural can be mapped out on the scavenger hunt in order for us to make it accessible and doable for all, but we definitely want to add to our “database”. We also desperately want to make sure and give credit to every artist! Should we share a picture and not have captioned the artist with credit, do you mind helping us out and sending the artist name to us please? Take it to the next level with us, and if you know of any not as often traveled by or well known murals throughout the 409 area that we should know about, PLEASE feel free to send the location, a picture of the mural, and name of the artist to us. We would absolutely love to check it out and add to these scavenger hunts each year.
